Hello again. It’s been a fucked up year and it’s not over yet, and let’s be honest, it’s all going to follow us to 2021. I do genuinely think that all blaming all the bad things on the year and the new year will be a fresh start is pretty dangerous. - But, nonetheless, I am in the backseat of the car, driving 2 hours to meet the rest of my family, and suffer through the day.
It is worth noting that i live in australia and the restrictions do allow this. Im just really mad about this. I know my family. They don’T giVe a shit.
I’ve also been working the past month and a half (yay). At a Santa set of all places. Do you remember going to a shopping centre and waiting four hours in a line to sit on a strangers lap for an awkward and uncomfortable photo you’ll never intentionally look at again? Believe it or not I think Santa photos have been improved by COVID. Like people’s personal hygiene, and strangers not being allowed to sit next to you on the train.
Instead of sitting on Santa’s lap there we’re stools and a rocking horse next to it for people to social distance. Santa could also move off his thrown for young kids and babies to sit in while Santa stands behind or sits next to them showing a book. All very cute. And all of our Santa’s were really engaging and friendly. I was a little afraid that it would be like the Simpsons.
Roasting on an Open Fire
Having a job during December actually did help my depression. Usually I have a whole month to stew in all the horrors I’ll have to experience on the one day. Having some where to go, something to do, and earning a decent amount of 💰💰 has helped a lot. I’m also hoping I’ll be too exhausted to fully absorb what I’m about to experience. But as we pull into the driveway, I realise that it has all only just begun, and being yelled out by customers and standing for eight hours a day was child’s play.
